• The Best Anti Virus Software

    Ever had that sinking feeling when you click on an install file you've downloaded and nothing happens?

    Having recently battled a collection of nasty computer viri and malware on a friend's computer, I'd like to share with you some sound anti viri advice, and links to the two 'best' anti virus engines I've found virus

    All other anti virus engines failed to help during my recent battle - I tried several of the most popular antivirus programs and gave up on them. The viri I was fighting were not even listed on antivirus lists.

    Fortunately, this was a Windows Vista OS, which is more resistant to viruses than XP and earlier OS's.

    PC Tools antivirus software is excellent and I've used it for the last year. Very slick. Great reviews. Reasonably priced. Fast. Easy to use. They have a free download version. pc-toolsYou can get this free with Google Toolbar package, I think.

    Also remember to scan flash drives, pen drives, backup devices, and to be wary of any back CD's or DVD's you have made. These may contain viri from your infected computer.

    I would also like to recommend the Firefox browser with Google No Script. firefox

    Google's toolbar addon for Firefox browser helps stop you getting infected in the first place, by limiting website script activity and warning you of bad websites. This is a bit annoying in the beginning, until you get used to working with this program. You have to click a button bottom right of your browser window to 'allow this page' meaning to allow the current page to run scripts. noscript remembers pages so you only have to allow a page once.

    But I have had zero spyware, addware and malware on my machine since I started using noscript. It is worth getting used to. Just remember, if something does not work in your browser, say an audio or video or any interactive field, click on no script to 'allow page'. Simple and effective.
