I hardly know what to say now that I've decided to comment. . . .did he meet this sad beast in the astral or 3rd dimension, does he say? And does it bite?

According to legend, a chupacabra can do all sorts of damage. Bite? Oh, yes/ And tear out your throat and internal organs in the process. Quite the frightening beasties, these.

As for the photo... I dunno. I'd have to see more than just a photo to make any sort of determination at all. Creative taxidermy? Photoshop? I dunno. Interesting photograph, in any case.

pretty cool looking beastie, whatever it is!
two years ago i went to my work's Halloween party dressed as El Chupacabra - goat exterminator.
i got a red boiler suit, and made a stencil of a logo with a big goat's head, and sprayed it on the back of the suit.
i looked like a ghostbuster, for goats!

i spent most of the night explaining what El Chupacabra is

Errr... it's not exterminator, though you've got the goat part right. It's from chupar "to suck" and cabra "goat", so literally "goat sucker".

I dunno, Neil, I wouldn't go to a party dressed as a goat sucker....

To tell you the truth, I don't know the story behind the picture, other than it was taken when the phenomenon began in Puerto Rico. It began when a farmer complained that their goats had been exsanguinated, and more and more goats and other small animals began to show up dead, all exsanguinated.
Since it became a 'worldwide' phenomenon, most people don't realize that the original chupacabras sightings began in Puerto Rico, went on for about a year and then began appearing in other places, amongst people of hispanic culture. What I noticed though, is that the farthest they got from the original the more doglike it became, and I'll leave it at that.
But that's one of the original ones, from Puerto Rico. When the phenomenon began, I had just moved away from PR and knew various people who had allegedly 'seen' one. However, I never met anyone who claimed to have seen it. Interestingly, the Mayor of one of the townships off the capital had a sighting, and was quite controversial. I wish I could remember names.
Anyway, it was a blast from the past, at least for me.

I did. And for a while, they were somewhat commonly reported in Mexico and the American Southwest (Texas, for example), where there are a lot of folks of Hispanic cultural background.

It's an interesting phenomenon, whatever it is.

yeah i knew what it meant. i heard about it many years ago.
none of the sucked goats lived tho, did they? extermination is an unfortunate side effect of goat exsanguination.

Maybe the goats live on an undead neverending existence, both mysterious and beautiful forever, though sadly, still goats basically, and if you come down to it, they also look terribly stupid with bloodsucking fangs... Am I mixing something up here?
