to make it short: i had a dream where i lost about 10 teeth. in the dream the reson was because the roots were broken.

I used to have this dream a lot when young. After doing some research, I was told that it had to do with fear of death (because an animal who loses it's teeth can't eat, and thus dies).
But then I read a different interpretation that I liked better: It is the awareness or fear (was there pain?) of change that makes you grow, because it evokes our teething when young. So if you are going through some massive changes in your situation or in your worldview, that could be an indicator of your discomfort with it.
Or you could have a toochache.

    changes

I've had this dream a few times, mostly in late high school and college. At some point I decided what this meant, but I forgot! However, I think I agree that it's about changes in your life. For me it was definitely not fear of death. In my dreams the teeth crumbled though, and didn't just fall out. I don't' know if that would make a difference in the interpretation.

    Re: changes

    Dear jalef and orbit1,

This link has an excellent explanation for these types of dreams.
    http://www.dreammoods.com/cgibin/teethd ... teethintro

I'll also post the script below just in case the link does not work.

    "My Teeth Are Falling"

Dreams that your teeth are falling out are the most common dreams we here at Dream Moods receive. Common dream scenarios include having your teeth crumbling in your hands or your teeth falling out one by one with just a light tap. Such dreams are not only horrifying and shocking, but often leaves the dreamer with a lasting image of the dream. So what does it mean?

One theory is that dreams about your teeth reflect your anxiety about your appearance and how others perceive you. Sadly, we live in a world where good looks are valued highly and your teeth play an important role in conveying that image. Teeth are used in the game of flirtations, whether it be a dazzling and gleaming smile or affectionate necking. These dreams may stem from a fear of your sexual impotence or the consequences of getting old. Teeth are an important feature of our attractiveness and presentation to others. Everybody worries about how they appear to others. Caring about our appearance is natural and healthy.

Another rationalization for these falling teeth dream may be rooted in your fear of being embarrassed or making a fool of yourself in some specific situation. These dreams are an over-exaggeration of your worries and anxiety.

Teeth are used to bite, tear, chew and gnaw. In this regard, teeth represent power. And the loss of teeth in your dream may be from a sense of powerlessness. Are you lacking power in some current situation? Perhaps you are having difficulties expressing yourself or getting your point across. You feel frustrated when your voice is not being heard. You may be experiencing feelings of inferiority and a lack of self-confidence in some situation or relationship in your life. This dream is an indication that you need to be more assertive and believe in the value of your own opinion.

In the latest research, it has been shown that women in menopause have frequent dreams about teeth. This may be related to getting older and/or feeling unattractive and less feminine.

Traditionally, it was thought that dreaming that you did not have teeth, represent malnutrition which may be applicable to some dreamers.

    Other Perspectives

A scriptural interpretation for bad or falling teeth indicate that you are putting your faith, trust, and beliefs in what man thinks rather than in the word of God. The bible says that God speaks once, yea twice in a dream or a vision in order to hide pride from us, to keep us back from the pit, to open our ears (spiritually) and to instruct and correct us.

In the Greek culture, when you dream about loose, rotten, or missing teeth, it indicates that a family member or close friend is very sick or even near death.

According to the Chinese, there is a saying that your teeth will fall out if your are telling lies.

It has also been said that if you dream of your teeth falling out, then it symbolizes money. This is based on the old tooth fairy story. If you lose a tooth and leave it under the pillow, a tooth fairy would bring you money.

about dreams with teeth breaking exct

Ihave concluded that dreams involving the teeth are usually indicators of the throat chakra functioning strongly during dreams. Ive concluded this also in relation to dreams where it feels like the inside of my mouth is "falling apart" or im chewing a huge wad of gum that gets stuck in my throat--- For a long time i wondered what it meant, until i started officially working with the new energy system. The energy in my throat is very strong, possibly because im a musician by nature, and i can easily cause mild to heavier choking sensations when i focus on this region while breathing energy thru the body.(not intentionally of course, im not darth vader, lol)---- Also, about teeth breaking--- Ive had several sleep initiated projections and have felt extreme pressure in the teeth at the "exit phase", feeling as though my teeth were going to break(of course they werent, there was just energy running through them--- no signs of clenching when awoken--) This is a new discovery while working on the new system daily as well, the teeth seem to transmit energy once the throat, crown and third eye chakras are flowing. I have studied dream interpretation extensively, especially when i was younger-- and felt that the lucid dream state was superior in interpretation due to the colouring of symbols by people's research. This also lead me ultimately to persuing the ability of projection, exct--- Hope some of this helps and that im not the only one to point this out--- Take care

I have had a similar dream about a dozen times in my life, mostly when I was in college. I would dream that I was biting down so hard that most of my teeth cracked and crumbled away. The dream would be so vivid, and I would feel the tension in my jaw muscles so intensely, that it would wake me and I would invariably be surprised that my teeth were still intact.

What I found most interesting was that these dreams were always accompanied by a loud, rough buzz in my head. It was more than just hearing. This buzzing felt like an enormous electrical jolt zapping my brain. I actually began to wonder if my brain, during its normal sleep cycle, simply had too much with which to cope, resulting in an overload or short-circuit or something.

When I began reading about this astral / OBE stuff, I was reminded of these episodes because it seems to me now that the buzzing I felt/heard is similar to the loud noises that many people report as a projection exit symptom. I also always felt a degree of sleep paralysis in these dreams, most vividly as an inability to open my mouth and stop the "cracking" of my teeth.

So, your crumbling teeth -might- be your dreaming mind's way of expressing some strong, intensely felt energetic movement or activation.

Maintain your composure past the original shock. When you look again, the corruptable may vanish and be replaced by something better. You may not be able to stop the torment of intense pain for what seems like the fullness of weeks. The same things may be happening to someone else, who is desperate for help or is way too happily playing.

The specifics would naturally be different for everyone.

    from Dictionary of Dreams
loose teeth ; failure, bad tidings , loss of status
teeth falling out ; crushed pride , breakup of love affair
spitting out teeth ; illness of self or family

It is not uncommon for people to grind their teeth when tense or anxious or seeking comfort ie as from chronic pain . This can result in wearing down the enamel and painful TMJ which radiates down the jaw to the shoulder and up to cause a headache . This is one reason for nightmares about the teeth . Another factor can be a Freudian desire to be suckled to be comforted so the palet instinctively works over time while sleeping . None of us really want to go back home to be a baby again in our mother's arms but we do hunger for love and for nourishment . So teeth crumbling in a dream can mean we find no sweetness in life , no succor .
Losing teeth can also be pregnosticative meaning loss of face , stature , position , or friends . So value the right things and the right people in your life . Take time out to count your blesssings , destress , smell the roses and do what harms no other but makes you happy . Life is Good.

In the first case, the person literally loses face, due to breaking away from roots. IMHO, that sounds like feeling foolish for ignoring tradition.
