down side in leaving our body behind frequently

    Hi, Robert:

One question that has been in my head ever since I knew the term "out of body experience" is whether or not there is any down side in OBEing frequently. When our non physical body leaves the physical body, the latter is left alone, without the essential energy support. Can't that be harmful if we do it often?

    Hello, amazingjourney.

Robert has written repeatedly that the physical body is not "left alone". According to Robert an "astral double" is created, which experiences separately from the physical body. This does not mean the body is without inhabiting consciousness. In fact you experience both at the same time - the physical and the astral.

Which side you remember and to which degree depends according to Robert on how good you can calm your mind on the physical side so the astral side can be remembered better. He calls this the "Memory Download Problem" or a problem of "OBE recall". Mosts OBEs are simply forgotten, or the memories of them overridden from the physical body. Robert developed techniques to improve recalling the astral side of your experience. They are described in MAP.

Robert has repeatedly insisted that the body is not "left alone". As evidence he lists his own experiences with the "mind split effect", and he describes this extensively in his books "Astral Dynamics" and MAP, and also on this website.

    Hope this answers your question,
    Oliver

To add to what Oliver said, I can attest that this is true from personal experience.
Most people that project often (and if you hang around OBE forums you'll read more about this) and long enough eventually experience bilocation, an experience that can be confusing and sometimes frustrating, often leaving people wondering what happened. This is because when you project often enough, your brain (or 'rational mind') finally accepts that being in two places at once is possible and feeds you the information as it happens instead of sequentializing it for you. This can bewilder some until they realize why it's happening-bilocation.
I hope this answered your question.
