Hi Robert,

In Western magick, one is taught that they should perform a divination to determine the outcome before performing a ritual that will effect change. For example, say a ritual to obtain money inadvertently caused a relative to die and you received an inheritance. The ritual may have worked but the karmic effects of this are obviously quite bleak. I understand that something like a Western magickal ritual that creates something on the astral plane can inadvertently cause something like this if one is not careful. However, are affirmations not working in the same way? Is there a danger of something similar occurring by using an affirmation such as "I am free of debt" or similar? If so, and affirmations are simply an appeal to our higher self, why would the higher self potentially allow harm to come to someone in this manner? Does one need to add a precaution to an affirmation, something like "I am free of debt without having brought harm to anyone"?

Cheers,
Keith
