View Full Version : THEORY OF POSITIVE DISINTEGRATION

Polish psychiatrist and psychologist Dr. Kazimierz Dabrowski's Theory of Positive Disintegration describes the creation of the unique, individual personality. "Personality is defined as a self-aware, self-chosen, self-affirmed, and self-determined unity of essential individual psychic qualities." Choice between higher and lower realms of behavior define us as human and delineate our multileveled Reality. Dabrowski proposed that neurosis is not an illness, but that it is automatic when the person becomes conscious of his own psychological development. He insists that real therapy involves self-observation through a lifelong autopsychotheraputic tracking and mapping of the inner environment. According to Dabrowski difficulty such as suffering, aloneness, self-doubt, sadness and inner conflict are symptoms constituting the psychic richness of an expanding consciousness.

He says that the capacity of the individual to develop is determined by the ability to change one's internal environment and the ability to positively influence the external environment. If mental health is seen as the development of the personality, we can say that characteristics of accelerated development include increased mental excitability, depressions, self-dissatisfaction, feelings of inferiority and guilt, anxiety, inhibitions, denial and ambivalence - are necessary growth symptoms of the transition through neurosis. The point being that without intense and painful introspection and self-reflection, we cannot realize our multidimensional and multilevel development toward an ever increasing awareness of body, mind, humanity and cosmos.

Dabrowski holds that without external and internal conflicts, with lower level realities there is no spontaneous, deliberate or desperate choice to realize a higher level of reality. The more we awaken (disembed, differentiate), the more we can use the disturbance of psychoneuroses as an opportunity to "take our life into our own hands." Thus the brain evolves through the process of disintegration and subsequent positive reintegration at higher levels. The drive of the prefrontal lobes for inner/outer mastery (executive function) amounts to the expression of a drive for moral autonomy, integration and harmony, by the upgrade of more immature-primitive structures. As this process of transmutation becomes more conscious the individual becomes a willing agent in both his breakdown and renewal…through what could be called permaculture of the soul.

The "cure" for socalled dysfunction is achieved by reaching a higher level through inner psychic transformation. By seeing dis-ease as being part of the growth cycle, we gain a sense of distance and reassurance by which we may carefully reparent and recreate ourselves via constant metamorphosis. Mindfulness and discriminating awareness of both the inner and outer milieus - propels the individual through higher levels of "neuroses," while simultaneously inhabiting ever higher levels of universal personality. Universal personality or autonomy is achieved by moving through the various roadblocks to informed choice to “make up one’s own mind about how to act.” It is generally agreed that autonomous agency (autonomy) is both the source of fundamental rights and the key to understanding what these rights are and what we must do to acknowledge them. In an ideal world autonomy (and hence each sovereign agent) is the source of moral norms. Sarah Buss points to the value of autonomy and respect as the moral fabric of society in that she says most seducers, deceivers and manipulators prevent their victims from governing themselves and from being sufficiently in touch with reality, or from relating to the manipulator as an equal, because they lack concern for the well-being and happiness of another human being. This points to the underlying predatory patriarchal practices of extractive industrial nations, and the coercive brainwashing machine needed to hold the dysfunction in place - through terrorizing and shaming the population.

Dabrowski's Theory of Positive Disintegration clearly states the importance of "acceptance of what is" as a necessary prior condition to moving beyond the quicksand of lower stages of being. The cellular embrace of "reality" whatever it is seems to be the key to moving up and onwards. Thus we see how a lived "original blessing" is the only real evolutionary stance...for the punitive, terrorizing or pedantic energetic shunts energy away from the prefrontal lobes and hyperintegration of the brain, into more primitive modes of operation. Really grokking this is the secret to overcoming the self-shaming that undermines core confidence and radiance...and our entire energy battery.

The world will torture and shame us to the degree that we have not burned clean our resistance to the flow of love and Spirit. Jung's tension of stage differential and Reich's battle for orgastic potency are the same psychophysical phenomena, in which kundalini inflated emotion pushes through the armoring of the lower energy state. The tension, battle and stress of growth is a factor of the charge of consciousness meeting resistance and creating friction, thus the labor, anger, frustration and heat of moving from the conditioned monad to a more enlightened, transparent level. When we stop bearing down on and resisting our resistance we set our Self free to simple Be...liberating the evolutionary process to Flow as IT demands of us.

The stress of adaptation or anticipation of necessary change, and the tension of stage differential can be approached in a more conscious fashion through integral practice, counseling, peer to peer coaching, the balanced increase in skill set and the expressive arts. Sure our technology is racing ahead which makes us feel like a caveman in Tiffany's, and yet on many fronts our collective morality, communication level and social behavior is still very primitive...and there is societal breakdown because of it. The economic bottomline undoes the highest values in most of our human endeavors and areas, and this undermines the quality of our creative expression and the stability of our structures. We feel like disposable units in a disposable culture, and this makes us feel like everything is falling part, that existence if futile and that nothing is sustainable. Saving, planning, contemplation and cosmic immersion seem like a thing of the past as we busy and distract ourselves to try and keep up momentum in what seems like a hopeless exercise.

We have forgotten how to be human even as we exercise more personal will and freedom than ever before. If we could pull back and establish some distance from our circumstances, we could gain a perspective on our lives within the human continuum and reset our assumptions about who we are and where we are going. The quality and depth, the profundity and the mystery of our soul is the ultimate prize, and so towards this end we could be conducting our lives...thereby contributing to human sustainability, meaning and purpose. It is a moment by moment choice of whether we choose to abandon ourSelf or not. Do we throw ourselves unthinking into the torrents of history, or do we navigate towards that which our heart's hold most dear. We can learn to become masters of our fate no matter what tides surround us.

Sovereign awakening involves waking to our condition and its consequences and taking the necessary actions to lead more positive results.

We have forgotten how to be human even as we exercise more personal will and freedom than ever before. I disagree- I think a citizen of the Roman Empire watching a bloody spectacle in the Colisseum, and feeling honor bound to attend as such, would be a great example of just this. We like to believe we have more personal freedom than ever- but I think we only do in paper, 'officially'.

i like this because it presupposes a having gone out from as personality growth, a dis-integration from an integration, an expansion foreign to that which from there was an integral none.

this taking place unawares, to be found as that which one suddenly becomes aware within.

note: well, i wrote a thesis. deleted it. it's span encompassed broadly, working to a narrowing conclusion. but it was too much. it's leaps required something beyond scientific survey and theorems. few have opened the books of time handed forward, for the revelation of truth. many have sought their truth in the brevity alone, casting all their being into momentary theorys.

and we live in a time when all such theorys held tightly to, have either been or are being 'busted'. yet science established upon this 'busted' drives forward. even as our american president and leader of the free world...Obama has stated, it would require too much national sacrifice to just rip out the mismembered theoretical foundation of our delapidated infrastructure, so we must drive on in our use of it even as it's utitility is proven 'bust'. O' children of a future exhausted in the past. my god, my god, my god, we stand within no-thing, utterly exhausted. grasping at theoretical straws and handing to our next, not even the invisible carrot from which our hunger has peaked.

gather any group of any number, and set them forth to make fire for warmth and cooking. how few will even know where to begin. yet a flame has been carried forth through man from the beginning, even unto now. science gives us instant fire for instant gratification, that exhausts itself as quick as does the brevity of a single life exhaust itself.

what exquisite madness is us. but while we revel in our subjective sovereignties and propositioned 'psychic'ness, let us marvel as to why the King wore a Crown of Thorns.

SYNCOPATION—Apathy is living in the world and not caring about it, while boredom is not being interested in it. Disposable consumerism is driven by apathy and boredom in populations so off balanced that they seek immediate gratification to reestablish a sense of self worth. The wall we have reached in our current cultural trajectory is created from the myriad of symptoms of atrophied prefrontal lobe development. At a time in which we need our executive (simplexity) functions more and more, we find ourselves prefrontally challenged with less and less access to our higher humanity. When our prefrontal lobes are not ignited, our hemispheres not balanced and our heart closed down we fail to incorporate the psychic and visionary levels in our daily life...thus we drive in the dark with no headlights. As such we collapse our drives down to comfort and security and can merely react to the onslaught of happenstance as it immediately presents itself...instead of entering the NOW fully through being equally centered in Timelessness or Infinity.

But this regression doesn’t need to happen if whenever possible, we can extract ourselves from the clutches of the New World Order’s agenda and save ourselves from being coralled, dumbed down and irretrievably stunted. To a large extend this cretinism has occurred through the use of fluoride, chlorine and aluminum in the drinking water...(and now barium in the climate modification spraying.) Once the pineal gland becomes hardened and laden with the halogens we lose our cosmic clock and the our hormones, thoughts, responses and timing fail to co-respond, such that the phase lock between the conscious and subconscious is broken. Synchronization is timekeeping or co-incidence which requires the coordination of events to operate a system in unison. Out of sync with the Universe, we cannot know our Self or God. Our headlights must be switched on with their beams firmly pointing to our desired future in order to recognize the signs along the way that build momentum to keep the creative thread alive. Break the stream and the circadian, circulation patterns collapse and so we fail to cocreate in an effortless dance with the world, but condemned like Sisyphus to ceaselessly roll a rock to the top of a mountain, only to have the stone fall back from its own weight.

“Philosophy is the ultimate aphrodisiac pleasure. Learning how to operate your brain. Learning how to operate your own mind. Learning how to redesign chaos…to your own versions of reality. To think for yourself you must learn how to reprogram, to reform, to inform your brain. To take responsibility for your brain it is necessary to question everything you have been taught, to question authority and enter a vulnerable, open-minded state.” Timothy Leary, Timothy Leary - How to Operate Your Brain (youtube)

Antero Alli says that we become socially intelligent when we encourage others to be the most extreme version of who they are...and that to "allow" this we must become extra-terrestrial...that is, transcend body reaction, imprint vulnerability and manage the force of our anxiety. Through expressive practices like ParaTheatre he uses ritual technology for self-initiation, self-transcendence and meditative action to deepen the capacity for direct experience, feeling the body, accessing sources of energy for movement. ParaTheatre generates intimacy with the source of energy and harvesting the seeds of inspiration, vision and creativity. The right-brain is the Angel (talent) and the left-brain is the Tech (skill). Rare is the individual who can gain authenticity through balancing both talent and skill. We fail to become a sovereign whole without a strong force of commitment to developing both skill and talent. ParaTheatre looks like one of the ultimate contexts for getting both hemispheres to operate and liberate mature, sovereign integrity.

“An [transpersonal] asocial group unity eventually develops over time as each individual deepens their commitment to their own internal sources as a basis for interacting with others. When participants are fully engaged with their own sources, interaction eventually opens towards an act of offering of presence, rather than any taking or getting, and towards being acted on by the presence of others. You can expect to confront your own limitations, physical movement cliches, internal resistances and rigidities, prejudices, and obsolete behaviors, beliefs, and other habits that drain your power and inhibit your capacity for direct experience and spontaneous response. You can also expect to celebrate your autonomy and integrity as it's earned through increasing your commitment to presence, expression, and the tasks at hand.” http://www.paratheatrical.com/

And one more for the day...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T840HtZNMPA —Christopher Hyatt - "Undoing Yourself" - pt 1 of 7

Dr. Christopher Hyatt shares his insight on various psychological topics and practical techniques for undoing the programs of our rigid, robotic nervous systems…to turn tension into energy. In one exercise Hyatt recommends going through the list of personality disorders and consecutively enacting each one in an exaggerated manner in ones life. He says the personality disorders are a product of genes and environment and by play-acting them you are more likely to catch yourself and become mindful of the Superego's hold over one's life. In this way we steal the Superego's power in the service of growth and significantly overcome victimhood to establish conscious agency.

“The major cause of insanity is restriction of the use of the brain and the mind…The future is already hard wired into our brain, and if the brain is allowed to develop on its own, without fear as an overriding and overwhelming [endogenous] producer of chemicals that destroy the brain. Fear has had us living in caves for thousands of years longer than we had to.” Dr. Christopher Hyatt

Hyatt goes into the social marginalization of the unique...however for those capable of growth...we will overcome our collective teenage era of the need to "fit in" and get in touch with our "one of kind" nature and we will have an equally strong urge to express our singular uniqueness...some with more authenticity than others. The point to remember is that rejection by the crowd is one of the finest stimulants to unique creativity and original intelligence. If people reject those that are more awakened, they are just rejecting the impulse to awaken to deeper layers and truths within themselves—this is a self-retardation process that is especially pernicious when undertaken in groups.

The New Manhood http://www.abc.net.au/rn/lifematters/st ... 066617.htm (http://www.abc.net.au/rn/lifematters/stories/2011/3066617.htm) The Great Healing of the Masculine

The love we get from and share with our caretakers, teachers, siblings etc... teaches us self-love and self-cherishing, defense, support and attention. That is we fail to learn to love ourselves and to not abandon ourselves to the degree that we are not loved consciously in infancy and childhood. If we have abandoned ourselves, then we live with in constant pain and tension that others will or are abandoning us also. Abandonment is our entire world when we are not shown love and how to love during our earliest wiring. The pain of deprivation running on those circuits is extreme and I have found little that can touch it other than sound/music/toning, movement and the ecstasy of kundalini-light. However there is one thing that can touch and heal the pain of abandonment/rejection better than anything (short of the courage to true love). That is a stream of falling water, as in a waterfall or a 3" column of falling water (preferably warm mineral water) over the head, shoulders, spine and back. One sits under the stream for hours in trance and the most incredible pain rises out of the flesh. I suggest doing it for up to 5 hours a day in the beginning, then down to 1-2 hours a day. Exercise, yoga, meditation, massage, tools, gestalt expression, role playing etc... all these work fine in conjunction, but it is the spinal shower that is the ultimate healer for circuitry that was left latent and deprived of loving "human" contact in childhood. Latency can be just as harmful as outright abuse, and it is much harder to palpate, to define and express...it gets locked into one’s being so deep, undermining one’s entire structure and functioning...and shows up much later in life during midlife crisis. It takes awareness, focus, discipline and great love and understanding to fill the void and reanimate oneself with the spirit that is seeking to emerge.

It was the most painful experience I have had short of a miscarriage, but because it touches the very heart of our "holding" the pain is exquisite.

• The Spinal Shower—is a 3” column of water falling about 4 feet onto the head and spine is I think the most profound “unblocker” and detoxifier of the central nervous system. Allowing “growth,” that is a deeper synthesis of consciousness and higher neurological integration to occur. The pain that is released is the latency and abuse of a conscious creature living in an unconscious culture. As the tension in the neuromuscular system is felt it is released, thereby permitting greater incarnation and integration.

You could take the nozzle off a showerhead and bend the pipe down, but the whole point is having a 3" diameter column of water falling "freely" from mother earth, and not requiring money or power to run. A gravity fed pipe that is concertinaed in a hot box and then run over a ledge on your property would be great if you have land with a stream/spring and changes in elevation. Not many people would actually have a spring of warm mineral water on their property. But you could make a little pagoda for the back yard, over the hottub or a children's pool. Then you use a fountain pump to lift the water up with a drop say of 6' onto the body. And a solar panel or windmill to run the pump.

WATER HEATING AND CENTRAL HEATING
http://www.friendsofgaviotas.org/about.htm —Gaviotas is a 40 year old ecovillage of the imagination…comprising about 200 people in Colombia, South America. http://www.chelseagreen.com/1998/items/gaviotas —Gaviotas, A Village to Reinvent the World, by Alan Weisman

BLACKENING COPPER: In Gaviotas by Alan Weissman he said they discovered a way to make the copper piping in passive solar water heaters jet black. First the piping is rinsed in nitric acid to clean it. Then dipped into a solution of copper sulphate dissoved in sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid. This black oxidation deposited directly on the copper leads to far greater efficiency in heating the water. In painting the inside of a passive solar heater - iron sand can be mixed with heat resistant black paint. Also if there is a local source of magnetite iron-sand this could be incorporated (sprinkled) into passive heating designs for superheating water…and imparting magnetism. If possible vortex the water through the system for greater efficiency (see Viktor Schauberger).

You could look into making a mirrored disc for water/steam heating if the sunlight is too weak in winter for the standard flat passive heating system.
