Hi, everyone!

I've joined to ask on behalf of my brother a question regarding OBE's/Astral projection. He doesn't know the name of either, he thinks he's dreaming. What do you think?

So, here's what he does.

He relaxes under his cover, eyes open.

He imagines what he wants to 'dream' about, i.e where he wishes to go.

He falls into a 'dream'.

But the thing is, he is fully aware during this. At first I though, Lucid dreaming, but then he added that he could pick things up and fly very easily, and things had weight. Also, he says when he does this, he can feel his heart beating when he's scared and can actually feel himself smiling.

I'm not sure how aware of his physical form he is, but I'd like some input as to what you think this is. Is it OBE, astral projection or lucid dreaming?

I think he's in a state of trance. If he's got his eyes open, he might be doing a modified version of the 'ganzfeld' maneuver. Trance, also known as the hypnagogic state, or the liminal state. All names for the same in between state between waking and sleeping, which activates the part of your brain that dreams, and puts you in a very focused state.
