Now this is gonna sound odd so please stick with me here :?

ok, so I know that the bwg is there to affect the mind state. But what I wanted to know is - how do we treat the bwg when listening to it?

Do I listen to and focus on the binaural tones?
Do I focus away from the tones and just let them do their stuff?

The reason I ask is because if I focus myself on the tones they kinda hypnotise me but divert me also in that there is a whole host of auditory phenomenon going on around them, e.g. voices, chanting, shouting. And this, although entertaining and pleasant, is preventing me from clearing away activity and getting constant.

So: how do we treat the tones? Where do they fit in with our practice?

I hope this makes sense

enoch,

It shouldn't matter if you focus on the tones or not. They'll work either way.

If you tend to zone out if focusing on them, you may want to direct your attention to whatever exercise you are doing at the moment.

There are exceptions to this, such as while learning meditation, where you are actually listening to hear each 15-second, 30-second, etc. pulse. But unless the directions tell you to do this, I'd recommend focusing on the task at hand.
