Good links. That's one of my favorite movies ever. :) I love how he created the painting as a scene in the astral... it reminds me of an OBE or lucid dream I had (can't remember which--it was a while ago) in which I saw a scene in a way that made it look like it was (very high quality) computer graphics... I actually thought to myself, "this dream has nice graphics!"

Another film by the same director (vincent ward) that is REALLY worth checking out is "The Navigator".

It was made in the mid 80's, and was the film that got him to hollywood. (I think it won the Palme d'Or at Cannes).

It's set in europe during the black plague, and follows a young boy who has a vision in a dream about how to save his village from the deadly illness by carrying a cross to a cathdral in a 'city of lights'.

A group of villagers tunnel through the earth on this quest, and emerge somewhere quite unexpected.

If I say more I'll ruin it.....

Very very cool film.

I just saw the clips for the first time- Years ago I tried to see the movie and couldn't- at the time some stuff was happening and the first part of it made me stop watching, and I never tried to see it again. Seeing this scene (the astral plane scene) reminds me of a place I went to in a dream (or a dream projection) before I ever knew about anything, it's the dream that let me know that my life was about to change in a jiffy- and it did.
I will now go and try to rent it, and watch the whole thing.
