Hi,

I would like to pose a question for the sister of a friend of mine. She has some problems related to sleep.
She has frequent nightmares, apparently every night. During the dreams she often quarrels, speaks in a high voice, shouts in fear... Her boyfriend tries to calm her down when she has the nightmares but one night when he did this (maybe she thought that he was a threat) she attacked him and he has very severe nail wounds on his arm.
The question is, do anyone have any idea what is happening to her and how she can resolve this. The family is quite concerned that in the future this condition might aggravate and she might seriously harm the others or even herself.

Thanks for advice,

Lia

Here is a short article from Wikipedia on night terrors. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_terror There are a few links at the end of the article that might be of some help.

Thanks Mishell

I'll pass it to my friend.

I recommend your friend visit her family doctor and get a referral to a sleep specialist. It can't possibly hurt. ;)

I spoke to my friend about seeking specialized help and she will have a discussion with her sister. All depends on her if she wants to go and solve the problem.
