If one is able to induce an out of body but not yet fly. By continuing energy work such as NEW or meditating, will this person eventually be able to fly in the realms?

I don't see why not.
However, I have a question.
What makes you think that you need 'more' energy to fly in the astral?

I fly in the astral by focusing, the energy seem to be more for remembering/length of the experience. I was curious because a friend does meditation for intuition but don't fly, so I was wondering if they learn NEW then they will be able to fly.

Swimming is nice, too, and it can be a good way to avoid the "gravity habit" which can be a problem with learning to fly. Of course, there is also the habit of not breathing under water to consider, but it is worth trying. It was much easier to get myself to breathe underwater than it was to fly back when I was just getting started.

how about actual physical flight?

is this possible through energy work?

Do you mean levitation? If so, no.
The metaphysical answer would be something like "everything is possible for those who really believe" or something like that. But I wouldn't be taking that flying leap off the roof just yet.

Any idea where one might do a bit of research on physical world levitation? Shamballa maybe? Aunt Clair has said thats the place to learn all sorts of wonderful things xD

physical world levitation? My original answer applies.

As for Shamballa, in my understanding all teaching temples are there (except for Qlippoth lessons, I suppose, but ask A.C.) so the lessons you learn there don't translate to the material world in a literal -> direct way.
For example, I asked a psychic about some lessons on telekinesis I was receiving and he explained to me that they were training for my manifesting abilities. So while in dreamstate I was pulling things to me, they translated to manifesting techniques in waking reality, and manifesting is a tad more complicated than pointing at something and 'drawing it in'. Yet the result is the same- creating or attracting what you want.

As to real life levitation? I personally don't believe this has happened. But then again, this is my belief.

I think it'd go a bit deeper than energy work. You'd have to rewire your system. Firstly, the sheer force it'd take... your body would have to be extensively conditioned to withstand the inundation of energy. You'd have to awaken the latent capabilities of your soul, but that, in itself, has tremendous physical consequences. You'd, for all intents and purposes, be a different being, a different species.

I've heard about humanoids (and in some cases, people) who can shift back and forth between the physical and astral, allowing them to fly around and teleport. (with the added benefit of controlled invisibility) Perhaps that would be quicker to learn and better than physically lifting yourself
