Hello everyone,

Ive never posted to the Kundalini forum before, but i have a strange issue that I hope someone here might know about. Im an individual with a really high sex drive. Recently ive been trying to transmute the sexual energy. Some texts talk about moving the energy up the spine just as you're about to climax. I hadnt had much luck with it for a long time.

Recently, ive been able to hold the climax and visualize the energy going up my spine. I dont feel the energy in my spine, but then i get a headrush and a headache. I feel my Blood pressure go up as i can hear my heart beat in my ears and my vision begins to pulse to my heartbeat. It went high enough one day that i actually had some hemorrhaging in my eye (i have to see a specialist :( ).

Is this headache and headrush an energy sensation? Am i doing something wrong? Thanks for the help :)

Hello everyone, Hi ICWiz. I moved your question to the Energy Body forum because it seems more suited to your question, and more people will probably see it here.

I don't practice any of these methods, but my understanding is that you move it up the spine at a different time, not as you're about to climax. This seems like something that would be extremely difficult to control.

--ICWiz Frankly, it sounds as if you've going to give yourself a stroke. A headache and bleeding is not your typical energy sensation, and it is an indication that something needs to change in how you're doing things.
I'm sure others will have more ideas, but a headache and headrush are physical sensations, and indicate something is not well.
Edit: Bleeding!? I did not see this the first time! You could have glaucoma or something worse! Get to a Doctor ASAP!

Sexual energy can best be stored by running the microcosmic orbit and directing the energy in so that it can be distributed to areas that need the energy most, and the circulating by itself refines the energy. In addition, there are physical exercises involving tightening and relaxing the PC muscles that you can use during sex to push the energy and practicing them daily helps to prevent incontinence in old age. They are called Kegels and there are exercises both for men and women. The big problem with them that comes to mind is that with the emphasis on tightening the muscles, relaxing them can be overlooked and relaxing them between squeezes is actually more important than tightening them.

And yes, bleeding is an unusual symptom.

Yeah i have already seen a doc. Im in my 20s so im not sure why i had the BP issue. As odd as it sounds im thinking its stress :( I didnt know stress could do that when you're young.

I need to get back to meditating and calming down...

Thanks for your input on this :)

Thanks, I'll try to look into the microcosmic orbit. I haven't read about that before.

Is the headache perhaps a sign of an energy block? Where would the block be?

The sexual energy work up the spine is actually the following - you are running extra current through the spine nerves up the spine, through the hind brain into the brain. Sorry, but I never thought that was a good practice to start out with, and it is difficult to tell when you are ready. You would need a good teacher to guide you.

Another rule of energy work is that "Where the energy goes, the blood goes." - that might explain the bleeding. You're basically raising blood flow and oxgenation. When you run a lot of energy, you do that very fast, though. Unelastic and brittle blood vessels might cause spontaneous bleeding - I had that experience with my nose over and over. Really big nosebleeds after a meditation session trying to "watch the breath at my nostrils." (A practice always portrayed as not having even the possibility of ill side effects - quite unlike sexual energy work.) These problems can be IMO cured over time by carefully and gently (!!) doing energy work in the affected areas, removing minor blockages and making the blood vessels elastic and strong again. Again, that's not done by rushing a full orgasm of sexual energy there, but by sitting down and working the problem as quiet as in meditation, softly.

Directly doing energy work of the brain is also often considered advanced. General order is something similar to muscles and tissues first, then the organs and glands, and finally nerves, brain and its glands last. Circulating sexual energy to the brain should be preceded by first cleaning the spine, also by generally removing blockages in the brain (see above). Only after stabilising the system this should be done. I know some do this with success right away, but that is the luck of birth. If you have side effects on first try - well, you don't have the luck of birth then. ;)

It can be done when the different circulations have been thoroughly practiced, stabilised and are open. But I have yet to find someone who even published about all the circulations involved there - I've read there are as many as 18 (!) different variants of the circulation that can be opened in established orders. That person - Bruce Frantzis - trained 7 years as a Daoist priest to be given all that info, and he teaches that stuff no longer publicly. He used to, though.

I know some recommend this practice, Mantak Chia does, but I think that's irresponsible, as some people with a more sensitive nervous system could get hurt - I think you should take your experience as a warning sign and drop the practice altogether.

Sexual energy can be very potent. I've read warnings that the mind should not be agitated when working with sexual energy. So it is surely not the right state of mind when having sex to move the energy around unless you trained your mind to experience as a calm observer.

My personal opinion is that sexual energy work is best left alone, and there seems to be no real consensus about this within the Daoist community.

Hoshin Tao will prepare you for using sexual energy techniques. No fluff, all techniques and advice. I recommend looking into it. Good luck.

I'll heed your advice. I believe that my mistake was going too hard too soon. Also, the warning about the mind not being agitated is something that applies to me. My mind was very agitated.

I Do need to focus on gentle energy work.

Thank you for your advice

PS - two things:

As far as I can see you're doing the "semen retention technique", right? Don't shoot the energy afterward, anyway. Techniques as these are designed only to prevent "losing" energy during ejaculation, not for shooting it somewhere else. The circulation of sexual energy is a separate practice and is done at a different time.

Also, if you really want to go ahead and keep practising this, you might want to contact our forum member andonitxo. He practises this a lot, so he might have some tips. He surely has no reservations talking about it - that's for sure! ;)

Yeah im basically trying to learn some control. Since the belief out there is that sexual energy can be used for creative purposes, im trying to learn how to do that. Thanks for your suggestion on contacting andonitxo, i will do that.
