saw it last night. yep, AWESOME!! :D 0
and i can definitely say that Simon Pegg's Scotty has the best Scottish accent done on screen by a non-Scotsman.
tho his wife is Scottish so i guess he had an easy job of it. it was soo funny, laughing at stuff that no-one else in the movie theatre understood.

I just saw it.

One of my earliest memories is of watching Mr Spock on our black and white television. That was the original run of the original series, and I was three or under. I've been a Star Trek fan pretty much all my life.

So, speaking as a lifelong Trek fan.... I loved this film. I was concerned about what they were going to do with it, but they did well. Really well. Very impressive stuff. I even like this Spock a little better (he's sarcastic! he also shows a very subtle sense of humour that I enjoyed very much).

I'm really impressed, and I loved the many Easter Eggs for longtime fans. I even loved how McCoy had the characteristic cadence of speech AND the same gait! I never really paid attention to DeForest Kelly's walk, but I noticed it in this film. The actor playing McCoy has definitely got the walk down. Really good.

I never, ever felt that anybody was doing an impression of anyone. Nobody was "doing" Leonard Nimoy or Nichelle Nichols or, heaven forbid, William Shatner. These were good actors playing the characters, but making them their own.

Ahhh. Looking forward to many more of these. :)
