View Full Version : Have you seen this man (in your dreams?)

I haven't, but the story tripped me out enough to post it. :P

http://www.thisman.org/

In January 2006 in New York, the patient of a well-known psychiatrist draws the face of a man that has been repeatedly appearing in her dreams. In more than one occasion that man has given her advice on her private life. The woman swears she has never met the man in her life.

That portrait lies forgotten on the psychiatrist's desk for a few days until one day another patient recognizes that face and says that the man has often visited him in his dreams. He also claims he has never seen that man in his waking life.

The psychiatrist decides to send the portrait to some of his colleagues that have patients with recurrent dreams. Within a few months, four patients recognize the man as a frequent presence in their own dreams. All the patients refer to him as THIS MAN.

From January 2006 until today, at least 2000 people have claimed they have seen this man in their dreams, in many cities all over the world: Los Angeles, Berlin, Sao Paulo, Tehran, Beijing, Rome, Barcelona, Stockholm, Paris, New Dehli, Moskow etc.

At the moment there is no ascertained relation or common trait among the people that have dreamed of seeing this man. Moreover, no living man has ever been recognized as resembling the man of the portrait by the people who have seen this man in their dreams.

The aim of this website is:
- to help those who have seen this man in their dreams and to foster communication among them;
- to understand who this man is and why he appears in an apparently pattern-less array of situations in the dreams of such diverse human subjects.

He looks an awful lot like the deceased uncle of someone I did a reading for. We ascertained that it was the uncle by the clothes he had on. But when she sent me a photo, it didn't really look like him. I sent her a photograph of Michael Dukakis and said he looked more like this.

Michael Dukakis must be a dream walker. :P

You sure this isn't just an urban legend? It's vary vague and sound like a story you would tell around the fireplace.

Of course you can't be sure of something like that. But it does make a good story!

Well, I find it intriguing, but I don't believe the backstory on it. I can't imagine any psychiatrist who would send around a mug shot of a patient's dream character to see if any other psychiatrists have patients who have dreamed of the same guy.

Still, it's an interesting project.

Definitely Michael Dukakis. Or his bald uncle.

Very strange after reading this thread , i went to youtube and i find a coast to coast dream interview. It just happened that a caller mention seeing this man , it seems that she experience negative vibes with him...

I am not sure if i am allowed to post link but if you search for :

"Coast to Coast AM - 14 Oct 2009 - Dream Interpretation part 4/4"

You will find the part of the interview i am talking about, somewhere toward the end (3:25) .

He's kinda scary looking to me :P I can say with confidence (whether this be urban legend or otherwise) I do not recall seeing this man in my dreams. And if I started, I might be very confused. Otherwise, he seems to be the popular guy of the dream world for a lot of people if you believe the claims :D And agreed, it is quite reminiscent of a Big Brother thing, which only makes it creepier. (^_^)

Despite my earlier joke, I wonder just based on the sexual comment under the Dreams category of the site if this is truly a malicious spirit. Many of those dreams are very freakish, and I know not everyone has the same unease I do but if someones head turned into a smiling balloon and floated away I would be a little freaked out. I am making a vow to myself that if I see this man I'm going to fight him. 8) You have more than 20 posts, so you can post links now.

Being the nosy and somewhat suspicious person I am, I did a little more research. The most telling thing I found is the information on the domain registration, which is to a marketing company in Italy:

http://www.guerrigliamarketing.it/

A further search on the email address registered for the domain yields interesting things, as well:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=a. ... 2&ie=UTF-8 (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=a.natella%40guerrigliamarketing.it&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGGL_enAU281AU282&ie=UTF-8)

There's also quite an interesting thread on this topic here:

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread510518/pg1

Basically, from what I could discover in the twenty minutes or so that I devoted to this, it seems it's some sort of viral marketing campaign. For what, I can't possibly imagine. Time, I suppose, will tell.

I just read it, and they admit it's a viral marketing campaign company, which brings more exposure to whichever product or idea via viral means. They even had a section in which they admit to include their viral marketing in porno, so that you are sold something while watching the porno. It was very interesting.

How could it be a viral marketing campaign by that I mean the man in the dreams

ButterflyWoman

They set up a viral campaign to get people posting this image all around the net and various other places, and to get people talking about it (and that much worked). There's no reason to believe that anyone is actually dreaming of this man, although if they do, it can be easily put down to the power of suggestion.

As for what they're marketing, I don't know, but maybe it was just a means of showing potential clients what they can do. You know, "Look, we got this 'guy in your dreams' all over the world, we can do the same for your product!"

Alright sorry the site was a fake; I admittedly didn't read through much other than what it was claiming to be.

Of course now I want to learn how to dreamwalk, so I can wander through a bunch of peoples' dreams, dropping random bits of sage wisdom, and eventually find *my* goofy mug on a website. It'll be like playing Where's Waldo! :D

Nah, it's cool. It was a damned interesting topic, IMHO.

Well, if I had random bits of wisdom to drop to people in their dreams, I might want to do that, but I'm only as wise as the other monkeys (just a little more experienced), so I dunno what I could tell them. Oh, I know, "Brush your teeth!" and "Sit up straight!" and "Wash your hands before you eat that!" (Well, I am a mother, after all... ;))

My goofy mug is on plenty of websites already, too. ;)

This guy could be anyone! I mean, it isn't an unusual face. I have never dreamed of him though. Right now, I can say that he bears an uncanny resemblance to a priest; but then he could be anyone in the world. :)
