Hello, PHR.

I'm going to ask again, since the thread got lost - what material to check for information about archetypes?

You mentioned C.G. Jung, but that seems a bit too much for me right now, he kind of seems imposing and I have trouble finding out what to find where in his works...

So, where can I dig in for many common archetypes, get a feel for them? Is there anything online, or a good intro book?

Also interesting would be material about the archetypical symbolism present in Tarot, for example.

My interest stems from wanting to learn to interpret dreams better, and I think digging into archetypes might give me a richer "inner vocabulary" to communicate with myself with.

Thanks!
Oliver

'ey again,

One thing that's pretty helpful is that Myss has a lot of her main info and "how-to" material on her site...

There are a lot of tarot deck interpretations online, but the one I usually end up on when I need a quick reference is this...

In the other thread I think I mentioned Joseph Campbell's Monomyth / Hero's journey...

Plato's theory of forms...

What I'd add also is that I've found archetypes to be a lot like dream symbols, in that I use a lot of these resources (and dream dictionaries) as a jumping-off point to get a basic idea of its "essence" and then develop my personal understanding of what the arch is actually doing in my experience. I found Myss's concept of the four basic survival archs to have a lot of validity for instance, but at this point my understanding of them doesn't take much from her material other than the names (and not even that in one case, lol). My understanding of my own individual personality archetypes is a lot different now from my original list after doing a lot of integration and having things return also; I would guess that anybody's list could probably act as a snapshot of one's understanding and how much of their authentic Self is actually onboard and known at that moment.
