A truly limiting belief

Rate this Entry
Whenever we project our mind to the future, we conceive it as some form of our present. We think in terms of now, of our present state of consciousness, and that inherently means all its limitations.

There may be many people in the world who have never gone beyond these limitations. Their conception of themselves and what is possible is so limited that they have categories of what is possible and what is impossible that don't change much, and the base for that is what they can conceive to be possible or impossible.

When exploring consciousness this might not hold true, at least I don't think so. People talk for example of units like oversouls or souls and never think what it is like to perceive reality from that point of view.

A soul for example might have had many incarnations, and each incarnate would be an extension of this soul, a possible variation of it once used to be present on the physical plane to learn those lessons. But doesn't that mean that the soul itself is none of them, but its own consciousness is really comprised of all of them and more.

You can now try to imagine such a consciousness but my bet would be you cannot, not truly. The same is true for many other states of consciousness until you had them, and even then you may be afterward be able to describe them, but the moment has flown and the experience proved to be elusive.

From this point of view I would think of it as a truly limiting belief if we expect that exploring the higher planes is essentially like our current self going on a field trip somewhere flying around, experiencing from a single perspective, with limited vision and similarly, being in one spot, perceiving everything lined up by one time line... Even from my own limited explorations I know that this is not all of it.

There are already parts of your consciousness that work differently, right now. Try to think of your Higher Self, or even Higher Selves as expanded versions of yourself. Still these aspects might open themselves to a very different perception of reality than you do have now.

While in the past I have at many times referred to a helpful concept, the energy body, it also encapsulates part of this limiting belief. Because when we think "body" we think various associated thoughts, observations about "bodies" that might only be true in this very limited environment we now experience so intensively - the physical plane.

The true wonders in exploring consciousness are yet to come.

This makes me think of video games. Think of all the video games you ever played in your life, for me, that goes way back to the original space invaders, and even more basic "ping-pong" games, and the like, on old Atari consoles. Very basic stuff, all the way to the games of today, very rich and complex worlds of potential to explore. Perhaps the higher-self view would be similar to viewing and experiencing all the games you ever played, all at once, in all their varying complexities, and then imagining what the games of the future might become, and experiencing that as well...

I remember "Pong." I hope we've also come a long way since then...
