How to Release Stress through Meditation

Stress and anxiety are natural reactions to unfortunate circumstances, challenges or difficulties. As evolved species with abilities to reason, it is only natural with the continuation of our evolution to seek perfection and make new discoveries. Therefore, anything that occurs with opposite effects of our expectations and desires causes a counter reaction called stress. Some individuals may use the above fact as an excuse not to put an effort and try to improve their lifestyle. Some may feel as victims of a faith or karma. Others simply do not believe in the power of their minds. However, despite the known facts surrounding these conditions, there are methods, which if persistently practiced, may significantly improve one’s well-being and even change our fortune.

Technique

You may use soft background sounds for better concentration. The use of color visualization will be applied during this exercise. With your eyes closed breathing normally, move your attention on the lower portion of your body, waist down through your feet. Feel the tension and discomfort on your muscles. Now, see this tension becoming slowly visible expressed in a form of gray colored strings attached alongside your muscles. Realize that they are the reason causing this unpleasant sensation. Now it is the time to awake your own army of defense.

NOTE: Your body is designed to have many guards on watch, but they need to receive a command from their owner – you. Even the smallest infection and repairing processes occurring in our body can be influenced by the commands of our mind either conscious or subconscious. We can’t be fully protected from external bacteria or viruses, but we can strengthen our own immune system, or provide our cells with assisting streams of focused energies. Nowadays everyone has turned their systems on autopilot, leaving the faith of their health and well-being in the hands of their chaotic conscious and subconscious thoughts. Hidden fears or established beliefs, play a big role on the functions of our bodies. The lack of understanding the connection between our physical and mental selves brings confusion or ignorance.

To activate your own forces, outline them with the healing color white. See white little balls emerging from the core of your cells, bouncing off one another forming patterns, coiling around the gray strings. Imagine the strings being made of frozen mud like substance. Heat the white balls turning them slightly red and start bouncing them off the gray strings. See them melting and evaporating instantly in a form of a layer of steam coming out of your entire lower body. See the steam dissolving into the air. Feel your legs light and free of tension.

Repeat this step for your upper body. If desired, this step may be applied on the whole body, but I have found a better concentration is formed, when smaller areas are being observed. Very important concentration is the one on your chest and brain areas. I suggest breaking down this exercise, each part focusing on heart and mind cleansing separately.

After completing the above segment feel your entire body and mind free of heaviness and worry. Cover yourself with a blanket of softness, quietness and peace. Remain in this state as long as you feel comfortable. When you are ready to release thoughts back into your mind, place an invisible filter around your head and imagine any thoughts of fear and worry bouncing back.

Do not be afraid to observe negative thoughts. You need to confront them in order to destroy them. Otherwise you will be hiding from them, accepting their superiority. I can’t stress enough on the importance of the realization that KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. It is only natural to fear the unknown, but it is our choice to face it with courage and excitement for the given opportunity to extract valuable knowledge.

Only through knowledge we grow! This is the universal law!

In many given situations causing stress ,we do know what we are facing. The fear is evaluated and the consequences of a negative outcome are realized. Or the outcome has already occurred and we feel trapped and helpless. How do we possibly find strength to gather our thoughts and move forward, especially in severe situations such as loss of a loved one or dealing with terminal illness? There is not a simple answer to this question, for if we did not feel pain and sorrow, there would not have been feelings of love, happiness and joy.

Thanks for sharing your wisdom in such a beautiful way. As I was reading I imagined a myriad of white robed warriors flowing out of my Thymus gland in defense of their temple. Your words have a transporting power to them, I look forward to reading more.
