Hi IA,
Yep, as I understand some are in fact related to the elements, but not all. Some colors related to attributes. Read up here:

Also, and I meant to add this originally, if you're interested in learning more about the Buddhist perspective on elements and such, I highly recommend Healing with Form, Energy, and Light.

Yes diverse paradigms have diverse elemental attributes in this case
the yellow is earth, the green is air the red is fire and the blue is water
Earth is called red, black , brown, green , yellow
Water is called blue, green , white
Air is called yellow, blue, white
Fire is called red, yellow , orange
I think it best to feel the energies and see clairvoyantly for yourself, straight to the source as Robert Bruce says.
I find the following correspondences to be true;
right leg male red negative electric earth warm damp dark
right arm male orange positive electric fire hot dry bright
chest male yellow positive electric sun a higher or noble fire hot dry bright
left arm female indigo negative magnetic water cold wet dark
left leg female chartreuse green positive magnetic air cool moist dim
Even the 5 Buddha Mandala has diverse depictions;
