    Dean Radin: Compassion for Skeptics

    http://deanradin.blogspot.com/2010/07/c ... ptics.html

Just in case you don't know:

Dean Radin, PhD, is Senior Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) and Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Psychology at Sonoma State University. His original career track as a concert violinist shifted into science after earning a BSEE degree in electrical engineering, magna cum laude and with honors in physics, from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and then an MS in electrical engineering and a PhD in psychology from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. For a decade he worked on advanced telecommunications R&D at AT&T Bell Laboratories and GTE Laboratories. For over two decades he has been engaged in consciousness research. Before joining the research staff at IONS in 2001, he held appointments at Princeton University, University of Edinburgh, University of Nevada, and three Silicon Valley think-tanks, including SRI International, where he worked on a classified program investigating psychic phenomena for the US government.

He is author or coauthor of over 200 technical and popular articles, a dozen book chapters, and several books including the bestselling The Conscious Universe (HarperOne, 1997) and Entangled Minds (Simon & Schuster, 2006). His technical articles have appeared in journals ranging from Foundations of Physics to Psychological Bulletin, he was featured in a New York Times Magazine article, and he has appeared on television shows ranging from the BBC’s Horizon and PBS's Closer to Truth to Oprah and Larry King Live. He has presented over a hundred invited lectures at universities including Cambridge, Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, Virginia Tech, and University of California at Davis, at industrial facilities including Google headquarters, and for US government organizations including DARPA and the US Navy. In 2010, he spent a month lecturing in India as the National Visiting Professor of the Indian Council of Philosophical Research, a program in the Indian government's Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Frustrating Stuff - but a wonderful Blog.

The last paragraph says it all:

"They hold on so tightly to their preferred view of the world that they can no longer respond rationally. They do not see that their approach is no different from extreme religious fundamentalists. All I can do is offer them compassion." - D. Radin

Yes, the R@nd!maniacs actually ARE FUNDAMENTALISTS.

I read one of Radin's books, I really like Radin's work a lot. There should be more scientists like him. His stance on the organised pseudo-skeptics' "cults" is the correct one.

On this blog he also has the link to this site with lots of useful articles on the "professional" skeptics: http://www.skepticalinvestigations.org/exam/index.htm
Very nice articles indeed. Debunkers get debunked.

(Just the Leiter Paper form the SEE is missing there, I have linked it once on this board in another thread, here it is again:
    http://www.scientificexploration.org/jo ... leiter.pdf )

Radin also mentions the evidence / experiments on brain distant influence - replicated all over the world (one of which is his own experiment). I had collected some sources online on these proofs (beating the hell out ouf skepticism and materialism and shocking "traditional" reductionist scientists to the core ) here in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=17111#p133170

    Cheers,

Thank you V. for contributing to this thread (and CW for starting it). I'm going to sticky it because this is the kind of stuff that should be readily available when people come in asking for experimental information.

Yes. And, as I've noted before, absolutely ANY ideology can become fundamentalist (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=20060).
