I heard it on the radio and it caught my attention. Normally I do not listen a lot to mainstream music but on my (rock) radio station they play some of the rock music which also charts.

So I became aware of the lyrics of Snow Patrol's newest hit, also saw them on a television show recently with this song. Superficially it is (I assume) about a woman who was left by a lover and all the world is in shatters now - well, the usual theme and business as usual in pop songs, isn't it?

But then there are some parts (and already in the title!) that can be interpreted rather along the lines of 'spiritual' practice. Maybe the singer in a 'practitioner' of some kind or at least knows some of 'the stuff' and he let it 'sneak in' with this common pop theme?

I copy out the essential lines here (including the title of the song!):

This Isn't Everyhing You Are

Breathe deeply in the silence
No sudden moves
This isn’t everything you are

Just take the hand that’s offered
And hold on tight
This isn’t everything you are

There’s joy not far from here, right
I know there is
This isn’t everything you are

- Snow Patrol (This Isn't Everything You Are)

possible 'references':
breathe deeply in silence, no sudden moves - meditate?
not everything you are - oversoul / higher self / multdimensional self aspects?
joy not far from here - heaven, spirit worlds?
hand that's offered - angels, guides?

Just speculating though. All has its two sides, of course. The mainstream kids won't have a clue and will consider it to be just another of a million (broken)-love songs.
