"Stop acting as if life is a rehearsal" Dr. Wayne Dyer.
Yes, of course. Open-eyed meditation is a specific practice. And there's a phenomenon that drivers sometimes experience, where they become entranced while driving, due to the hypnotic effect of the lines on the road. Those are only two possibilities; there are infinite other possibilities.
May the light surround you, may you be blessed. May the light surround us, may we be blessed. May love and light surround us all, and may we all be healed and blessed. And so it is, and so it shall be, now and ever after.
Closing your eyes is just an effective way of tuning out visual distractions. Zen and Tibetan buddhists meditate with their eyes open, usually while staring at a blank wall or spot on the floor.
If you want to practice entering trance with open eyes, start by staring at a blank wall, then add a few objects, then work your way up to where you can meditate while in a crowded room.
