question on understanding of escaping lower hellish dimensions

what i understand is that hell is there on like lower dimensionson the astral plane.

after studying i think of it like this:

hell is created only from the EGO- mind of human beings on earth. Ego is an illusion, does this mean that any soul who enters hellish dimension for whatever reason, is therefore experiencing an illusion, and therefore you always can escape hell because you can always escape an illusion?

is that true?
