Why wouldn't it be? A real experience is an experience that is real for you, and sometimes verifiable. However, what it is might be different for many other people. For example, I believe that your conscious point of view moves out of the body point (some people don't, they believe the experience to be intro-somatic), but this has nothing to do with the soul or spirit, which are more fundamental parts (or quintessential essence) of you.

From my point view the (theory) that the universe is a living hologram, every portion of you, every atom, every feeling and thought is connected to everything else
    http://www.cosmometry.net/fractal-ho...getic-universe

    that exists.

Imagine if you will, a videogame in which you are playing a "level", interacting with a virtual environment and simultaneously aware of your self "outside" of the game, playing the game etc.

Now, a portion of yourself is what often is referred to as "out of body" or Astral Travelling. Your body does not end or begin neither does your soul or "self" or whatever word you care to use (I use entity) has no "point" where it stops and starts, or ends and begins.

So in that sense, how can you "leave" your body when the entire universe IS your body?

So you see you are everywhere and "nowhere", you simply shift your focus, your conscious awareness to a different focus.
