Recently, I've been trying to focus my attention on contacting my Spirit Guide(s) while lucid dreaming. Spirit Guides have gained my attention after one experience I had not too long ago. I was not at all thinking about spiritual entities when a woman, dressed in expensive-looking clothes and vaguely sparkling, came out of a bush and greeted me. She seemed to have a mind of her own, which I thought was odd since the characters in my lucid dreams can always be manipulated/have some purpose. She told me to practice falling backwards, as opposed to trying to fly into the sky (which I thought was the only method), if I want to enter the astral plane. A couple days later, after reading a portion from 'Astral Dynamics' that I had skipped my first time, I read that this exact technique was used to enter the astral while lucid dreaming. Ever since, I'd wondered if that woman was actually someone trying to help me from another realm, or if I'd simply dreamed it and it was all coincidence. Nonetheless, I've been eagerly trying to contact my Spirit Guides ever since via lucid dreaming.
My question is, what are some techniques I can do to try and contact my Spirit Guides? I've tried simply asking, and intending, but it doesn't seem to work.
