Is there a difference between the trance state achieved through hypnosis and the trance state achieved through meditation/other techniques, or does hypnosis send you into a trance with side effects.. If yes, what are they, how is it different from meditative trance and or other ways (define other ways, just leaving that open cuz meditation and hypnosis are the only two ways i know of but don't hesitate to bring up another way into trance if you know of one : \ )

If you end up in a certain state of consciousness, and can stabilise it, you are there, no matter where you come from.
Charles Tart has written about a subject that was especially hypnotizable. He hypnotized that guy way beyond the usual, taking him to states of consciousness more commonly associated with meditation.
