"Stop acting as if life is a rehearsal" Dr. Wayne Dyer.
Hot water bottle or an electric heat pad, and if that doesn't work, try an ice pack (different things work for different women).
That's the mundane answer, of course, but there you go.
As for energetic healing, I have found that doing basic energy work is helpful to relieve cramps, both in the lower back and the belly (I get both, though not usually at the same time, mercifully). It's straightforward to learn NEW, and it's helpful for a lot of things. Even if she "doesn't believe" in it, NEW can be used as a kind of meditative process which can, indeed, relieve pain and induce healing, or such as been my experience.
May the light surround you, may you be blessed. May the light surround us, may we be blessed. May love and light surround us all, and may we all be healed and blessed. And so it is, and so it shall be, now and ever after.
Massaging the lower back does help a lot. Another mundane - but you can imagine while doing so, to send also healing energy, that will enhance the effect.

Have your wife see her gyn. It could be something that her gyn can quickly take care of like a polyp.
Yoga definitely works:

Also she could try a deep tissue massage in the week before the period is due.
Increasing fluid intake helps.
I dare say a good acupuncturist and or herbalist would have a few tricks up their sleeves as well.
