Very interesting article on the role our oxytocin levels play in the extent to which we're likely to trust others.
On one hand, it kind of reaffirms my suspicion of most "universal love" based paradigms as being off balance in one direction; but then, the statement that prolonged stress and anxiety neutralizes oxytocin (and thus lowers the ability to trust) helps confirm the source of imbalance in the other direction.
On a more disturbing note, apparently research has been done as to whether messing with oxy levels deliberately can increase trust in government officials.
I do believe though, that if intuition is developed based on the intent to trust when it's deserved and recognize when it's not, mind will ♥♥♥♥♥ matter and the chemical component will fall into line with the intent, and not vice versa.
