Do you mean project from the aware state, as you go into deep trance, or do you mean from waking up from sleep? (which would describe the state of sleep paralysis).
If you mean the first one there are various techniques stickied here in the OBE R & D forum, or, in the MAP subsection, there is a
schedule you can follow, using the techs for reference, and there is also Robert Bruce's
Treatise on Astral Projection especially the section on
Projection Training.
You can do anything to get yourself comfortable. It is indeed ok to move if you need to, simply get back to your comfortable position. And by all means, forget about all the 'can't do's involved with your body- they are self defeating. If you take a gander at all the links that I provided you'll figure out why.
