A beginner's guide to Crystals

What I would love to have is your divine wisdom and insight, please feel free to write links and recommend books here.

Why Crystals? I just found my childhood stash of crystals and gems and stones, and my passion for crystals awoke again. When I was a boy I was almost obsessed with them, I would run to the town carnival each year and spend all my cash on crystals (and Michael Jackson stuff ). Recently I was told that you can store energy in amethysts, which sounds very useful... I did some reading and I realized I shall put my crystals to use.

I know these are super lame and small and flawed, but I just wanna know what you make of them:




(I know the pic-quality is lame, but it's taken with my cellphone camera. The purple one I guess is an amethyst. The white one is probably useless. The Yellow stone is my grandmother's and is very precious / important for my family.)

As far as I can understand, gems / crystals / quartz can be used for:

Connecting with the higher self
Protection
Opening up the chakras
Store energy
Purify energy
Healing

I think quartz is good for healing and purifying things. I myself am also just starting to work with crystals through Reiki.

I suppose synchronization of it with your own energy to carry out a specific task... Though I have no idea, just a thought.

Hasalameth- Crystals are used for many purposes, from healing to stroing energy, sometimes protection and absorbing negative energy. This is mainly done through visualazation, but you can raise energy out of your body into the crystal and store it for later. I also use crystals in distance healing and scanning, for the can amplify the power. Right now, I have amythest, quartz crystal, smoky quartz, and opal crystals. I hope that helped.

The most common use for quartz is an amplifier of energy or psychic ability. I wear a small one for that purpose but it has many uses. Its the jack of all trades of the crystal world.
